Ait Benhadou and Telouate Kasbah Excursion : This one-day trip takes you to two famous Moroccan kasbahs: Ait Benhaddou and Telouet. These haven sites offer a picturesque and exemplary view of the Southern region’s old heritage. :
Departure from Ouarzazate with 4×4 vehicle to the Kasbah of Ait Benhaddou. Situated some 30 kilometers away from Ouarzazate along the Salt River, this UNESCO listed Kasbah set the scene for many Hollywood blockbuster films, such as ‘Alexander the Great’ and ‘Gladiator’.
The trip continues along a track through the High Atlas to Kasbah Telouet. Located far away from the main road to Marrakech in a remote area, this Kasbah served as the residence and headquarters of the powerful Glaoui tribe. The head of this family was the Pasha of Marrakesh, whose last descendent, Thami Glaoui, fled Morocco in 1956 after Moroccan Independence, given his opposition to the return to power of king Mohammed V. We will have lunch in Telouet before returning to Ouarzazate by the end of the afternoon passing over the Tizi-n-Tichk pass at 2.260 m.
